The book will explain the specifics of the EU’s citizens rights policy, and its operational tools and the interaction between national rights law and European law in the field of IPR protection. The course will concentrate on the critical analysis of the citizens’ rights instruments drafted under the auspices of the Council of Europe, with particular emphasis on the European Directives on IPR. It will explain in general terms, what EU is, and what it does and how it fits into the larger European citizens rights system. The course explores the role of the EU in the IPR protection, including the jurisprudence of the European Court of justice, with particular emphasis on the content and the meaning of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
